Meet our Physicians
David J. Doucette, MD, FACOG
David Doucette, MD grew up in a suburb of Boston, Massachusetts. After losing his 40-year-old father at the age of 4 and raised by his often sickly mother who herself died at the young age of 54, the young David became intimately acquainted with hospitals and medical personnel. His mother felt profoundly disappointed at how little the medical profession could do for her husband and later how little her own health could be improved by that same system despite great technology. Her relentless encouragement to her son was to work hard and strive for excellence in everything and to be the caring and compassionate physician that had been so elusive in her experiences with the medical system. Consequently, Dr. Doucette has developed a style of practice that might find him saying to a medical student or resident, "I've never gotten a letter from a patient to say 'thank you for being so intelligent', but most patients appreciate and desire a physician who takes the time to listen and has empathy and compassion for their condition." Dr. Doucette finds great motivation and encouragement from his spiritual experiences and applying those principles to meet patients where they are and provide more than just science and technology in maintaining and restoring their wholeness and wellness.
Dr. Doucette has been an Oak Creek OB/GYN partner physician since 1993. He is a graduate of Harvard University and Loma Linda University School of Medicine. He completed his residency at Naval Hospital Oakland, California after serving as a Naval Flight Surgeon. Dr. Doucette is a former Department Chair of OB/GYN, former Chief of Staff, and currently co-chair of the Clinical Quality Committee at Kettering Medical Center. He holds a faculty appointment as Assistant Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology from Loma Linda University School of Medicine. Dr. Doucette has also served as a board member and a credentials chairman of the Montgomery County Medical Society and is also a member of the Ohio State Medical Society and the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons.
Dr. Doucette practices a balance of both Obstetrics and Gynecology and he has delivered over 8,000 babies! Beginning in the Navy where women with bladder and pelvic relaxation problems, at times, seemed underserved, he developed a special interest in urologic gynecology. Dr. Doucette performs bladder testing as well as open and laparscopic gynecologic procedures for incontinence issues in addition to other general gynecologic problems.
Dr. Doucette never thought of living in Ohio, but moved to Kettering to join the community where his wife, Diane, was raised and where her parents lived in retirement. Dr. and Mrs. Doucette have been married since 1978 and have three adult daughters. Diane Doucette's father, Vernon Luthas, MD, was the first anesthesiologist and developed the anesthesia group at Kettering Medical Center when the hospital opened in the 1960s. Dr. Doucette counts Dr. Luthas as a spiritual giant and one of the most inspirational mentors in his life. He has been the father that Dr. Doucette never had and the best grandfather for the three Doucette daughters.
Dr. Doucette has been active in the community and is past Chairman and current board member at Spring Valley Academy, a private Christian school in Centerville. He is Chairman of the Board and an elder at Centerville Seventh-Day Adventist Church.
Dr. Doucette is an instrument rated private pilot who enjoys flying and has been building an airplane that will be completed on Sunday - he's just not sure which Sunday that will be.
